1. Acceptance of terms
By using Split·App ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. These terms may be updated from time to time; continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
2. What the app is
Split·App is a free, client-side tool that reads receipt photos using in-browser OCR, lets you review and correct the extracted items, and helps a group split the resulting total — evenly or item by item — and generate payment links to settle up. It runs entirely in your browser; there is no account and no backend service.
3. No warranty
Split·App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. OCR is inherently imperfect — receipts vary widely in layout, print quality, and legibility — and the app makes no guarantee that extracted items, prices, or totals will be correct. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting extracted data before relying on it.
4. Your responsibility for accuracy
You are solely responsible for verifying that item names, prices, tax, service charges, and the final split are correct before using them to request or send money. Split·App is a calculation aid, not a source of financial or legal truth — always confirm figures against the original receipt before settling up.
5. Third-party payment links
Split·App can generate deep links to third-party payment providers (UPI, PayPal.me, Venmo, Cash App). These providers are independent services not affiliated with Split·App; the app does not process, hold, or have visibility into any payment made through them. Any dispute, error, or issue with an actual payment is between you and that provider, governed by that provider's own terms.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Split·App and its maintainer(s) are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss — including miscalculated splits, incorrect payments sent or received, or disputes between people splitting a bill — arising from use of the app.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use Split·App for anything unlawful, or in a way intended to harm, defraud, or mislead another person — including using a generated payment link to request money under false pretenses.
8. Changes to the service
The app may change, be updated, or become unavailable at any time, with or without notice, since it is an independently maintained project rather than a commercially supported product.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
