Why this exists
Splitting a restaurant bill is a small, recurring annoyance: someone squints at a receipt, does napkin math, and rounds in their own favor without meaning to. Split·App exists to make that thirty seconds painless — photograph the receipt, let OCR (optical character recognition) pull out the items and prices, fix anything it got wrong, and split it fairly by however the table actually ordered.
An independent project, not a company
Split·App is built and maintained independently — there's no company behind it, no investors, and no hidden business model. It's a tool built to solve one specific, everyday problem well, not a platform trying to grow into something else.
Free, and private by construction
There's no backend. Every part of Split·App — the OCR, the split math, the currency formatting — runs in your browser. Receipt photos are never uploaded anywhere, there's no account to create, and nothing about your bill is stored anywhere but your own device.
